Types of Braces
Choices to Fit Your Individual Smile
If the mention of orthodontics makes you think of poking wires, uncomfortable appliances, or headgear, then your ideas are mostly outdated.
While metal braces are still the most common type of orthodontic treatment, they're also small, more streamlined, less cumbersome and a lot easier to maintain than they used to be. They're also not your only choice!
So What Are Your Options?
Ceramic brackets, personalized 3D-printed brackets, metal braces and Invisalign® are available at East Oakville Orthodontics.
In order to determine which orthodontic solution is right for your unique situation, Dr. Helene Grubisa offers a complimentary consultation to go over all the details of your specific case and treatment. She will assess your goals and needs, analyze what type of bite you have, and go over all of the options that will best serve to correct any orthodontic issues you may have.
All of your questions about the types of braces that may best suit your needs and lifestyle will be answered at your consultation.
Types of Braces and Finding the Right Treatment for You
Whether you want to show some creative flair or not draw any attention to the fact that you’re receiving orthodontic treatment, there’s a type of orthodontic appliance available to suit you. However, the treatment must also suit the type of orthodontic correction that your teeth and smile require.

Invisalign® offers an individual fit that’s unnoticeable
Invisalign® is a popular choice for many adults, and it suits some teenagers as well, depending on your orthodontic conditions. This treatment is virtually unnoticeable and there are no issues with major discomfort or speech impairment.
With Invisalign®, you'll be fitted with a series of clear aligner trays that are specially fabricated to your teeth. Every 2 weeks you will change aligners, which will gradually adjust the position of your teeth and result in the progressive correction of your bite. Don’t worry, you don’t need to come in every 2 weeks, you only need to come in every 2 months!
They’re comfortable, easy to maintain, hardly noticeable and removable. Yes, you can even take your aligner trays out when you eat and clean your teeth!
Metal Braces - a common choice
These braces are made of stainless steel, just like the “old fashioned” braces were, but they are smaller than they used to be. And thanks to advances in orthodontic technology, the types of materials that are used can make these braces more comfortable than when your parents wore them.
Orthodontic solutions designed uniquely for you
At East Oakville Orthodontics, our staff is dedicated to providing the best quality care for your individual needs. The Canadian Association of Orthodontics recommends that children have an orthodontic evaluation by age 7, as detailed on our Early Treatment page, but it’s never too late!
Our complimentary consultation also extends to adult treatment, for those “more mature” patients interested in improving their smile. Learn more about how these orthodontic options can fit into your lifestyle and your budget.
