Invisalign®

A nearly invisible solution to straightening out your smile

With Invisalign® you’ll have nothing to hide

If you require orthodontic correction for your smile or bite, you may think that metal or ceramic braces are your only choice, but that’s not always the case. Invisalign® is a popular treatment option that doesn’t have the appearance or feel of traditional braces, and it may be right for you!

Treatment is provided with a series of virtually invisible, removable aligners made out of lightweight polymers. They gradually move your teeth into alignment over the duration of your orthodontic treatment, while giving you the freedom to take them out when you eat or clean your teeth.

Is Invisalign® the right treatment option for you?

If you have crooked teeth, overcrowded teeth, gaps, crossbites, overbite, or an otherwise misaligned smile, then orthodontic treatment with Invisalign® may be the answer to creating your new, straight smile. Dr. Grubisa will help you determine if that’s the case. But for more severe orthodontic issues traditional braces may still be the recommended and ideal solution.

Both methods of straightening your teeth have their strengths and weaknesses, and during your initial consultation with Dr. Grubisa, she will present all of the comparisons and discuss how they relate to your individual situation.

How does Invisalign® treatment work?

When you meet Dr. Grubisa for your initial consultation, she will learn about your unique orthodontic needs, discuss her observations, and present you with your options for treatment.

If Invisalign® is suitable, your personal treatment plan will start with a scan of your teeth using a 3D scanner, which makes a “virtual” model of your teeth. This virtual model is used in specialized computer software to generate a series of Invisalign® aligners that will be used to correct your bite and smile.

The aligners will be fabricated at an Invisalign® laboratory and since they are computer-generated they’ll be extremely precise in how they fit your teeth and gradually align them.

Every 2 weeks you will change your aligner trays in order to gradually move your teeth into their new positions. Incrementally, you will be correcting your bite by wearing your aligner trays throughout the day, but you will only need to come into our clinic every 2 months for progress appointments.

Once your treatment period is over, another personalized tray will be used as a retainer, which you will wear while you sleep. This will ensure that your new, straight smile remains that way! You may also be fitted with a permanent wire retainer that’s bonded to the inside of the front teeth.

The Benefits of Invisalign®

  • They’re convenient: treatment with Invisalign® requires fewer office visits than traditional braces, and your visits are shorter. You also won’t encounter the need for emergency appointments from broken brackets or loose or poking wires.
  • They’re removable: it’s easier to clean your teeth when you don’t have to navigate through wires and brackets, and there are no food restrictions since you will remove the aligners when you eat.
  • They’re comfortable: wearing a smooth, clear plastic tray over your teeth will feel quite natural and you won’t have to worry about any brackets or wires causing discomfort.
  • They’re unnoticeable: to the casual observer, it won’t be detectable that you’re receiving orthodontic treatment when you’re wearing your Invisalign®, but you’ll be gradually adjusting your teeth for a healthier and straighter smile!

With all of this being said, Invisalign® isn’t the perfect solution for all orthodontic cases. Your orthodontic needs are unique,(like you are), and at East Oakville Orthodontics we offer treatment options that will suit your individual concerns, whether that treatment is with traditional braces or Invisalign®
