About Dr. Helene Grubisa
B.Sc., D.D.S., M.Sc., F.R.C.D.(C)
Your Highly Qualified Orthodontist in Oakville
When you're looking to straighten your child's teeth to provide a lifetime of beautiful smiles, it's important to choose a highly qualified orthodontist. And orthodontics isn't just part of what Dr. Grubisa does, it's all she does!
Even so, Dr. Helene Grubisa still has complete training in general dentistry and is a highly regarded specialist in orthodontics, so you can trust her to understand the whole picture of your child's oral health when working to correct their smile.
Full orthodontic treatment is about much more than just wearing braces for a few months, which is why Dr. Grubisa and her team work tirelessly to build long-term relationships with patients of all ages.
Dr. Grubisa has earned an alphabet of letters that spell out her qualifications!
All of those letters after Dr. Grubisa's name represent the degrees she has earned in pursuit of knowledge about orthodontics and dentistry. During her extensive education and training, she has earned the following degrees and honours:
- Honours Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Physiology, McGill University (Montreal)
- Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.), McGill University (Montreal)
- Masters of Science (M.Sc.) in Orthodontics, University of Alberta (Edmonton)
- Fellowship (FRCD(C)) in Orthodontics, Royal College of Dentists of Canada
Though Dr. Grubisa worked hard to add all of those letters after her name, she'll never make you remember them! She knows that the quality of treatment she provides, and her relationships with you and your children are what's truly important when you step into her office.
Dr. Grubisa loves working with kids!
Though her advanced degrees are significant, they don't convey Dr. Grubisa's full love of working with children.
During dental school, she completed an externship at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, where she was able to make a real difference in the lives of young people. After dental school, Dr. Grubisa spent a year as an intern at Toronto General Hospital before deciding to devote her orthodontic career to serving the families of Oakville in 2002.
Since then, she's loved every minute of time spent with her orthodontics patients — both young children and the young at heart!
Dr. Grubisa is also a devoted mother to two children of her own, Christian & Noëlle, so she understands first-hand the importance of working with medical professionals who are dedicated to family practice.
And yes, as a Mom, she also understands every Mom's concerns & wants for their precious son or daughter.
Dr. Grubisa Is a Great Teacher
In addition to explaining the ins and outs of orthodontics to her own patients, Dr. Grubisa has also taught at the graduate level at both the University of Alberta and the University of Toronto since completing her own training.
She is currently the Course Coordinator and Lecturer in Practice Management at the University of Toronto's Graduate Orthodontics Program. Her work as an instructor helps her make an impact on future orthodontists, and stay abreast of many important new developments in the field.
Dr. Grubisa has also been a board member of the Canadian Association of Orthodontists (CAO) for Ontario for 14 years, and served as the national organization's President in 2015/16.
She also serves on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Association of Orthodontists as the representative of the province of Ontario and plans to continue to give back to the community in any way she can.
Of course, the best way to get to know Dr. Grubisa is in person. She is very friendly!
